🧡 New from Bitcoin for the Arts: Broadway just killed its most-awarded new musical of the season after only five months. Cats: The Jellicle Ball won three Tony Awards, made history with the first openly trans woman to win a Tony for costume design, and was grossing close to a million dollars a week. It still couldn’t survive. Andrew Lloyd Webber says the American theater is in “dire danger.” He’s right — but the reason isn’t what most people think. This isn’t really a story about taste, diversity, or streaming. It’s a story about money. When production costs triple (or more) while the dollar quietly loses value every year, even successful new work gets crushed by the math. Broadway had its biggest year ever in ticket sales. At the same time, most new musicals are closing inside four or five months. The same pattern is showing up across the arts — ballet companies cutting roles, orchestras struggling, regional theaters shrinking. Different cities, different disciplines, same underlying pressure. If you’re an artist trying to build something that lasts longer than the next budget cycle, this is worth understanding. image Read the full piece: #Bitcoin #SoundMoney #Broadway #BitcoinForTheArts #ArtsFunding #MonetaryDebasement #AndrewLloydWebber

New episode of Share Your Bitcoin Journey just dropped. Alana Mediavilla, the Puerto Rican filmmaker behind Dirty Coin and founder of Campo Libre, sits down with Bitcoin For The Arts for a two-hour conversation about the making of the most important documentary on Bitcoin mining ever made. She spent more than a decade inside Silicon Valley producing for Google, Apple, PayPal, Volkswagen, and Volvo. In 2020 she walked away, moved her family home to Puerto Rico, and built Dirty Coin from the ground up. The film has since been screened in over 200 cities through a community-hosted distribution model, and won Best National Documentary in Puerto Rico as the first English-language film ever to do so. Highlights from the conversation: * Buying 3 BTC at $200 each in 2015, and how she found out her husband had sold them at $600 * The 2018 phone call from her Cuban grandfather that reframed Bitcoin as a family-scale tool * Why she left Google Cloud during the 2020 lockdown and moved the kids home to Puerto Rico * Becoming a Bitcoin-only maxi after watching neighbors get rug-pulled on the island * What Malawi taught her that Texas could not, and why Bitcoin mining unlocks stranded renewable energy * Financing a documentary in Bitcoin, and the day a 40k BTC donation turned into 70k of production spend * Community-hosted distribution: 500 screenings in 200 cities via Kinema, aimed at meetup leaders * Node Runners, her next documentary on how to own your own data and run your own compute * Advice for women and mothers looking at Bitcoin from outside the movement Watch: #Bitcoin #Nostr #BitcoinForTheArts #BFTA #DirtyCoin #SoundMoney #V4V
New clip from Share Your Bitcoin Journey 🧡 Lindey Magee shares how she used the Bitcoin from her late husband’s life insurance to fund her children’s book — even though it meant spending what could have been long-term wealth. She explains that she did it because she believed the book would matter. Dion responds by pointing out that she operated with true low time preference and created something with real generational value. This is a beautiful example of Bitcoin enabling creators to build things that can outlast them. Full episode: #Bitcoin #SoundMoney #ValueForValue #LowTimePreference #Nostr
Bitcoin Journey 🧡 After losing her husband, Lindey Magee made a bold decision with the life insurance he left behind. Instead of following the traditional path of studying Bitcoin first and then deciding, she acted on strong conviction. She put the money into Bitcoin — and credits that decision with giving her and her daughter stability and freedom during one of the hardest seasons of their lives. She shares: “That decision is the reason why Palyn and I have a roof over our heads today… I was able to have the freedom to pour into her versus be stressed out over finances.” New clip from Share Your Full episode: #Bitcoin #SoundMoney #ValueForValue #Nostr #Mom #HomeSchool #Conviction
New clip from Share Your Bitcoin Journey 🧡 Lindey Magee shares a very practical reality of living on a Bitcoin standard: Even during a bear market, she’s been able to stretch her money significantly further — sometimes living at “more than half off.” As a result, the life insurance her late husband left her has gone twice as far (or more) than it would have in fiat. Dion points out: She took fiat money and made it go twice as far in a world where most people are losing purchasing power. Full episode: #Bitcoin #SoundMoney #ValueForValue #Nostr
New clip from Share Your Bitcoin Journey 🧡 In this moment, Lindey Magee shares how her faith shaped her view of money: She explains that fiat currency “steals from savers through inflation and punishes the poor,” and that this offends the character of God. For her, discovering Bitcoin wasn’t just financial — it was a conviction she believes came from the Holy Spirit. Full episode: #Bitcoin #SoundMoney #ValueForValue #Nostr

After losing her husband to cancer, Lindey made the decision to put his life insurance into Bitcoin. Artists, what is the most creative way you have marshaled fiat to transfer into sound money, during this opportunity market? 🧡
New clip from Share Your Bitcoin Journey 🧡 BFTA founder, @Dion Wilson references @Jeff Booth point that as Bitcoin gains more recognition and adoption, the noise in the space will grow louder — making it increasingly difficult to focus on what actually matters. He explains why it’s especially important for artists to understand Bitcoin as peer-to-peer, rather than getting lost in the growing confusion around it. New clip from Share Your Bitcoin Journey 🧡 Lady Nakamoto shares how she transitioned from competitive downhill ski racing to snowboarding in the late ‘90s — right as the X Games took off. She describes the X Games as a “massive cultural revolution” that felt just like Bitcoin for sports. Athletes stepped outside the traditional system, took control of their sponsorships and events, and built something entirely new. New clip from Share Your Bitcoin Journey 🧡 In this short intro, Lady Nakamoto reflects on how Bitcoin felt different from anything else she had encountered. She describes it as “so much more than money… it’s like a living organism” and compares it to a landscape — something that felt natural and aligned with how she already moved through the world. From growing up in Alaska as a competitive skier and snowboarder, to going through a major personal crisis, to her first peer-to-peer Bitcoin art sale in Portland, her journey has a very grounded, embodied quality. Movement is our first language. The way a person moves across the room is the way a person walks through life. It was magic. It was wild. It was an embodied experience. It was just a love. It was a real connection of heart to heart.” A beautiful reminder of what peer-to-peer exchange can actually feel like when it’s real.
