🚨 CRITICAL SECURITY ALERT — BTCPay Server Vulnerability A critical vulnerability is being actively exploited in BTCPay Server that can result in loss of funds. Upgrade immediately. Step 1 — Update BTCPay Server to v2.4.2 Admin Dashboard → Server → Maintenance → Update Verify the 2.4.2 version string in the footer after updating. If you cannot update right now, shut down your BTCPay Server to prevent unauthorized access until you can. Step 2 — Rotate Lightning credentials Ensure your backing node is running LND 0.21.1+, then: • Destroy your macaroons and macaroons.db and recreate them fresh • This applies to auth mechanisms for other LN backends too (not just LND) Step 3 — Move hot wallet funds If you generated a hot on-chain wallet inside BTCPay, move those funds to a secure wallet immediately. Please share this with anyone running BTCPay Server. Stay safe. 🔒

There is no evidence of any current threat to the Lightning network or individual nodes. Some node runners have temporarily turned off their nodes as a precaution amidst reports of Boltz and Zeus swaps going offline, but we have seen no cause for alarm at this time.
