tariff the shit out of all the goods that you off-shored... after you realize you've off-shored everything. the rules of the game define the outcome, and game theory makes it inescapable - maximize shareholder value and concentrate domestic wealth every quarter, every year, every decade... until you've scuttled your industrial base, destabilized your society, and eroded your tax base, and now you need some kind of political and economic hail mary play to try to keep it on the rails. The world is your oyster when you're the issuer of the global reserve currency...but even the whole world is still a finite system. so hopefully the world can now finally break out of this cycle and the US can be the last nation state "blessed" with reserve currency status. the world now has the option to adopt a single, incorruptible currency, built for the digital age, and can stop cycling through fiat reserve currencies which are all doomed from the start to the same fate - being lifted by, and finally falling victim to, the geographic/forex arbitrage forcing funtion. it's going to take a few generations to grow out of fiat, and a few more to rebalance world trade, but we've been offered a solution (h/t @therealsatoshi), and Gresham's & Metcalfe's Laws are revealing themselves.
