The unintended consequences of homeschooling. It's what they teach you.
Exploring the old world. IYKYK #tartarianempire #prague image
What are you up to today? I hope it involves a cardboard spaceship. Imagination is key to learning, play, explore and live together ❤️
I took no maternity leave. Sent my son to daycare at 5 months. Told myself it was more important to help provide for my family. Outsourced the cuddles, the love and the care. How I regret that. How I learn from that. You can't get those moments back. Don't let society tell you it doesn't matter. It does.
Excuse me you seem too healthy, there must be something wrong!
Sometimes learning just looks like reading a book together in the sun. Learning is everywhere. ❤️
POP QUIZ When is the only time in your life when you're thrust into an environment where the only thing you may have in common with your peers is your age? Think about it, every other situation is from shared passion, shared responsibility, shared goals. We could argue that school does this. But the point is, when you are spending 40% or more of your day at school it's pretty significant. Working hard to align with a group you may have nothing in common with. That's a lot of pressure for some.

It’s often easier and quicker for me to just do things myself. But how much can children learn when we invite them into everyday life? Cooking teaches so much more than making food. It involves: • Reading and following instructions • Measuring and basic maths • Planning and sequencing • Fine motor and hand development • Patience and time management Studies show children who help with everyday tasks build confidence, independence and problem-solving skills from a young age. And the added bonus? Connection. Conversation. Bonding. The little moments they’ll remember. Sometimes learning doesn’t look like desks and worksheets. Sometimes it looks like tiny hands helping in the kitchen. Practice patience by letting them join in.

As a homeschool mum, we talk about all sorts of things. A friend asked me what I teach the kids about money. We talk about how money is really just a trade for someone’s time, work or energy. We talk about why some things are worth more than others and how things that are rare or hard to make are usually more valuable. Same too for the value they give to the world. If it's not a scarce skill set or talent, a product that people want then it's not as valuable. In a world where money can be printed so easily, I think it’s important for kids to understand that. Once you see value over price you build your personal stock and spend your time and energy on things that give back to you. Whether that is time, energy or joy.

Teaching my children about the most complex topics thanks to @Tuttle Twins TV I'm not a natural reader, but i'm persevering to be a good example to my little ones. So glad that there are resources out there that we can share as a family. Open up the conversations about real topics and have fun while you're doing it!

A six year old should be able to do... (insert generalised expectation) Society constantly checks our progress. As children, students, workers and providers. We know we are all different, we understand that we are all wired and built differently. So why do we continue to bench mark and compare ourselves to others. Why are we so frustrated and concerned when our progress doesn't match that of another? Focus on the strengths, the joy & the passions. Not where we should be in comparison. We are constantly learning and growing regardless - but when we are in our flow our souls light up. And that is where life is.

I thought I was going to mess everything up! Turns out I was just trying to replicate and copy. I wasn’t trusting my own gut and abilities. Homeschooling is about finding out what works for your family.

I pulled my son out of school - Four months months on and the biggest lesson I've learnt so far is: The hardest part was just starting. I did the research, I spent the time learning and working out if it was the right thing for our family. But, like anything else the execution was the hardest part. Don't let noise muffle your gut, your inner voice. Live life of your terms.

16 years ago today, someone paid 10,000 BTC for two pizzas. Today? That stack is worth over NZ$1.3 billion. The most expensive takeaway in history, but someone had to be first. Someone had to spend it, prove it worked, show this magic internet money could actually buy something real. So today we salute Laszlo Hanyecz who bought the pizzas and inspired SPEDNERS around the world! Happy Pizza Day.! @franktonpizzeriaqtn @Bitcoin Basin. NZ
