I’m working on a paid subscriber special for our Fountain subscribers on the importance of heroes right now. Many individuals in the Bitcoin content ecosystem talk about the importance of slaying their heroes. I don’t like this terminology because I think hero worship is important. We live in a time that requires heroism if there is any hope. The house is on fire and the children are trapped inside. The proper thing to do is for the adults to run into the house and save their children. Slay your heroes comes from the reality that demoralized individuals have an inability to determine what is heroic. They get drawn into pleb slop being disseminated by individuals who are not heroic and often times have some sort of exploitative agenda that is not in the best interest of the people following them. The demoralized individual needs to go on their own heroes journey in order to reclaim and define their own values in order to become better attuned to what is truly heroic. I believe there are heroes and I believe this because I believe there is hope for humanity. I believe that individuals have the capacity to be brave, to go against the grain of broader society, and will do that. I see individuals facing adversity and choosing to be aligned with their values instead of compromising them in order to choose safety and security. These individuals do not do this in the pursuit of fame but because they believe in themselves and the things that they love. There are individuals who are deserving of hero worship because they are truly heroes. It is important to worship these people in the sense of applauding their actions and accomplishments. These individuals who do admirable and inspiring things should not be torn down by purity tests, though they will likely face scorn from the plebs who have an inability to appreciate bravery. Heroes are individuals who display admirable traits and accomplish things that are impressive due to a willingness to face adversity in order to further the things they believe in. They do not fold under pressure and their greatness comes from their uncompromising virtue. Their role is of vital importance acting as examples for other individuals to display acts of heroism. The broader society and culture has a disdain for heroes. They worship mediocrity. I believe that creating meaningful change means celebrating those who are deserving of celebration.
