I am gearing up to release an album I am currently mastering. The band is Called The You Project, and they wrote and recorded 11 songs back in 2012 at their home studio. The 3 band members did everything for the album until right after tracking, when the bass player/owner of the studio suddenly died. This shocked the other two band members who were left with simply memories of the experience and a CD with unmastered tracks. A family friend was the guitar player in the band, and years ago he showed me the songs and I really liked them. The songs have an authentic classic rock feel, which makes sense because the members all grew up in the 70s and fell in love with music during that time. A few months ago, I visisted the guitar player and brought him a copy of the @Amplified Tunes v4v music magazine. I wanted to show him what I was getting into when it came to music. He asked me to copy a CD with his album on it so he could give it to the drummer he worked with, who had just gotten news of a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Maybe the CD and listening to their songs could cheer him up in these dark times. I asked if he would consider allowing me to release his album into #v4vmusic since the album was never released or really heard by anyone accept the band and close friends. This is when he brought up the fact that the album was technically never quite finished, and needed to be mastered. This made me feel like I was on a mission. I said I could finish mastering the album, create an album cover, list all the credits and distribute the album online. The remaining band members approved and it has been my honor to be able to help these guys get their songs sounding better and make their work truely come to life. Before Christmas the album will be finished and released, and I cannot wait to have it out there. For now, here is a taste of one song from the album, it is called "Light it Up".

I recently saw this good music movie called Begin Again. I remember when I was going to university for film I was also working at a movie theatre, and this movie came out, but I never saw it. Its about a female singer/songwriter and a music label producer who are both fed up with the music industry and its lack of depth and how it produces cookie-cutter songs simply to sell to the public. The music producer (Mark Ruffalo) hears a song by the singer (Keira Knightly) and decides to record an album for her as they both break free from the shackles that the industry has put on them. In the end, they decide to release the album not with a label but something that sorta sounds similar to #v4vmusic or bandcamp lol @Amplified Tunes @Aaron of Essex @ChadF and 33 others @Matt Finlay @Haleen

Today is my 34th birthday. I get to spend it embracing my Italian heritage in the first half of the day, followed by band practice with @Strange Love . Nothing like jarring homemade tomatoes with some music to look forward to after!
