In light of the recent CC attacks, I feel like we need to audit Stevia Leaf. I don't trust anything now, not even plants, and that shit is in everything now!
In all seriousness though, these hacks have been super unnerving. As I am relatively new to the bitcoin space I have been trying to learn as much as possible and continue to improve my skills. The protocol is a beacon of hope in a world where money is so fundamentally corrupted and controlled.
I could have easily gotten an mk4 for my first HWW and set up single sig no passphrase and started stacking there. Thats what I did with my first one I just happened to go with a different manufacturer. Then I later added additional layers of security as I started to learn more about best practices and then did end up getting an mk5 recently which is now a nice purple paper weight.
I feel for anyone who lost money, and I think the issues are just getting started. Even if funds are moved, and your seed is compromised, now transaction histories will be available. Watchman Privacy noted this in their recent podcast. A lot of respect for those guys.
Self-custody is the ultimate responsibility and if anything, these events have gotten me more fired up about improving and leaning into truly FOSS projects like
@SeedSigner.
Since leaving my last job, I've been helping people switch to Linux Mint and Graphene OS as well as getting people started with bitcoin wallets and custody and plan to lean more into this in the coming months as I continue to learn and gain skills. Currently I'm finishing up a free email course to help people reset their digital lives with a focus on understanding how tech affects our nervous system, digital minimalism, and switching to freedom technologies.
Personally, the last few months have been rough for myself and my family even before all this. Experiencing loss, sorting out living situations, and transitioning careers. I've never felt this level of uncertainty but at the same time I have a lot of optimism for my family, freedom technology, and humanity.
Over the next three months I will be posting up in Costa Rica with a stop in El Salvador on the way. Two thriving bitcoin circular economies. People actually using bitcoin as money. I'm super excited to have this opportunity. In a way, it is a chance to start over, to give myself and my family an opportunity to build a life where we are self-reliant and thriving. A life based on nature, healthy living, meaningful work, and freedom tech. Onward.
