Genuinely curious for YOUR opinion 🫵🏻
How many total global bitcoiners do you think exist that currently:
1. Are >50% of portfolio in on btc and live day-to-day with the volatility / keeping the minimum amount of fiat possible (I chose 50% of portfolio because many people consider their house as part of portfolio)
2. Have survived more than 1 full cycle
3. Self-custody and do not use a KYC exchange for their fiat needs (trade P2P when spending)
4. HODL & Spend as needed (they don’t sell each cycle, they ride the low out and stack hard during bear while reducing expenses)
After co-founding a bitcoin community and running meetups, my guess is that number is somewhere around 100,000 at most…
@ODELL once estimated (in 2024 I think) there were maybe 400,000 people that had over 1 btc in self custody… that sounded correct at the time to me. We have MANY more bitcoiner now in total, globally… but the self-custody / HODL & Spend / P2P no KYC conditions would drastically cut into that number
What do you think? Is 100,000 total way too low? Too high? Would be curious to see what you think
