I just listened to the recent Professor Jiang podcast with Jack Neel where he claims bitcoin is a CIA operation and displays a total lack of understanding of the technology.
I really enjoyed the two part podcast and I found myself liking Jack and Jiang quite a lot despite holding a very different perspective.
It's best not to judge an individual exclusively on a single clip, however brilliant or stupid that clip might be. Jiang's takes are interesting and sometimes brilliant, but I think the recent attention and praise have made him far too comfortable making wild predictions based on limited data. He also contradicts himself a lot.
He says his worldview hinges upon hermetic philosophy. Given that is the case, I would like to ask him how he thinks his podcast appearances are going to impact reality.
On the same premise I would also ask him why he chooses to predict a dismal dystopian future for most of the planet.
I imagine he is deeply wounded and could use a hug, as well as a proper conversation about the reality of bitcoin as a technology.

I watch his lectures and I like him. Educational and entertaining. He reminds his students every now and then, that it's all a thought experiment, trying to apply game theory and history to predict what will happen, and that obviously he might be wrong. The only issue I have with him is that these reminders are not frequent enough.
He's wrong on bitcoin... Well, it happened to many.
I get the feeling he is used to being the smartest guy in the room & that he's never spoken to a room full of bitcoiners.
Be humble or be humbled.
He stikes me as controlled opposition... his online presence/growth seems inorganic.
Ese tipo no entiende nada delBitcoin ni de la tecnología detrás, solo está dispuesto a creer cualquier trolería que escuche, el verdadero poder de la moneda está en su inercia y no en teorías paranoicas.
We have seen this before with Gary's economics. This is just Jiang's economics. Who cares lol
My take is the guy is a clown at best and straight up nefarious at worst. Dig into his history.
I've wondered the same thing
