This is how I train, this doorway is the hardest in the house, with a rounded edge to start on and two higher edges to pull myself up to.
One day I'll build a personal rock climbing gym, but door frames are great.

Also if you are overweight or just unfit, door frames are a great way to low stress train, do squats in the doorway with you hands on the doorframe, it's not a full range of motion, but it's a good way to spread the load between your arms and legs. You can do the same thing with a pull-up bar. I've seen large people get good results using that method to build strength before being able to do regular pull-ups or squats.
