I love how OP_RETURNS are the new goal post, despite the fact OP_RETURNS are the most prunable solution.

“Bitcoin fixes this”
I see you are new to this debate and don’t realise why blowing op returns was the reason why BIP-110 was drafted in the first place. No goalposts have been moved, you’re simply ignorant.
I have great reading sources for you if you decide to improve your knowledge:

WTF Happened in Feb 2023?
Bitcoin Spam and Blockspace in Feb 2023 | WTF Happened
How February 2023 Bitcoin spam crowded blockspace, raised fees, and exposed relay policy choices.

BIP-110
BIP-110: Temporarily Limit Arbitrary Data in Bitcoin
A one-year consensus soft fork to limit arbitrary data storage in Bitcoin, protecting its purpose as sound, permissionless money.
Okay so the first website makes the bonkers assertion that the reason the price went down in the last cycle was because the market reacted to the release of Core 30; that tolerance of spam chisels away the monetary properties of bitcoin. Despite the fact that the vast majority of bitcoin holders don't even know what version Core is at (much less run Core), they are sitting at their desks, refreshing some node stats website as they plan their retirement. Delusional.
Easily falsified if/when the price recovers.
But the hairshirt XBT / BIP-110 crowd is so thoroughly intellectually dishonest that they will tapdance around that and say something so stupid my imagination seizes up when I try to predict it. Maybe something like "The market is currently irrational" or "The price is manipulated by Blockstream to prove Luke wrong."
