I can't believe how many women ask to use the restroom in my small mom and pop shops. Like this isn't a big box store or a gas station. Since when do people think they should have access to my private restroom? They are obsessed with pissing while shopping. I never use public restrooms unless I absolutley have to and I would never go into a small business and ask to use their toilet. Do you ask to use restrooms in small businesses?

Like a normal person.
If I buy something and really have to go, I will, but if I was just perusing, absolutely not. I feel like there is a social contract that if you buy something from somewhere, the bathroom is now open to you.

Post purchase perhaps, if you have to, or there is a child. I'm not a toilet nazi but if you come in and your first priority is to track down staff and ask for the toilet. I'm a business not access to the sewer.

If there isn't a clear public bathroom sign then it's rude to ask in my opinion. I do see a lot of negative reviews from women on Google maps bitching that they couldn't use the bathroom at a local business.

That is hilarious. The public is so wild. Imagine hurting a small business reputation because they didn't want someone's bodily waste they can't control.

Thank you. And they shouldn't be offended by hearing a polite no.

Where I live you don't have to ask to use the toilets in a business. Majority of people respect smaller businesses and don't leave a mess.
