⚡️🇺🇸 NEW - The FBI may have already identified the "hacker" behind the first wave of the Coldcard hack.
The July 30 attack reportedly resulted in the theft of 1,082.65 BTC during the first wave by exploiting a serious vulnerability in the seed generation process of certain Coldcard devices. In total, the various waves are believed to have affected thousands of addresses.
However, the hacker reportedly made a mistake: he allegedly used a paid account with a major blockchain service provider to query the addresses before transferring the BTC. The provider’s logs reportedly match the timing and sequence of the hacker’s operations with remarkable precision. This information has since been shared with the authorities.
This lead could allow investigators to trace the hacker’s identity directly.
