Discovery in @primal is challenging. Ideally went on boarding user would be offered a list of top. Hundred relays to choose from then a list of top thousand users to choose from to start their nostr journey.
Am I doing Nostr all wrong? I use the default relays of my client and never ever waste a thought about relays.
Am I not seeing all the notes of all the people that I follow??
There are many different kinds of relays, some of them curate content, so if you dial into just those ones you get a different feed.

If you followed them then you’re using at-least one of the same relays they are using otherwise you wouldn’t really see their posts of profile and not had the opportunity to follow them.
Most of nostr now days is running in the popular big relays anyway so you’re likely not missing much.
No, if all you want are the notes of people you follow then you shouldn't have to care about relays at all and your client should deliver them to you automatically.
