Get a VPS with anon payments from @Mynymbox - Privacy friendly hosting solutions with a dedicated IP and install headscale or Tailscale and make the VPS the exit. or there is Hydraveil by @npub14slk...t5d6 stupid simple approach. But then you need scrap / change your tech to Linux and degoogled phone by using @GrapheneOS on a Pixel. You can store your photos on a home umbrel server (old computer) with Immich. Simplex for private messages. Syncthing for syncing files between devices. Proton for email. Nostr for social media, Invidious for youtube or freetube I'm sure many people on here will have other alternatives to google or Apple apps that will require age verification. I mean its a bit of a rabbit hole but once you get there.. they is the new normal and there is no looking back.. Anyone reading this, if you have other suggestions please share.

bitwarden markor on mobile (with syncthing) self-hosted baikal calendar with etar on mobile ollama + openwebui if you have a machine that can run decent open models miniflux rss linkwarden self-hosted ntfy.sh or nstrfy (search my github) photoprism + photosync homeassistant self-hosted plex gitea obsidian or logseq (also w/ syncthing or git) ....that's a pretty fleshed out digital life suite with no megacorp or state dependencies. mail is the only pain point, with self-hosted being viable if you don't mind some deliverability issues to bullshit provider recipients
I now have a separate VPS that runs OpenClaw and my robot slave does sysadmin for all of the above as well. they didn't tell me the future would look like this

CryptPad ( ) for replacing Google Drive. You can host your own instance, or use one of several already existing ones. I haven't found any critical defects with Delta Chat ( ) for private messaging. In addition to ProtonMail ( ), I like Tuta ( ). Some privacy oriented Firefox clones are LibreWolf (desktop) and IronFox (Android). Instead of using the router your ISP supplies, it's easy to buy your own. That alone, prevents them from seeing some information. Sometimes that's a cheaper option too. Bonus if you install OpenWRT over the manufacturer firmware. From there, you can control a lot more of what content comes to your devices (ads, etc), in addition to controlling more of your own upstream traffic. Get a second router, but don't connect it to the Internet, and you can have a private LAN too.
Use encryption people. Self hosting without encryption is worse than Tuta or proton drive. It will get worse in this world, so prepare for it sooner than later. For places like the fucked up UK shithole, use plausible deniability, for example hidden volumes in veracrypt. And be careful with crypto wallets when entering the UK - always use plausible deniabilty or a wallet which has it built-in
For those who want to push the limits I suggest (as a Sugestor πŸ™‰) using an asymmetric encryption with PQC for storage and backups. Use "duplicity" (not duplicati) for that. Check out a fancy asymm. encrypted camera app called Cryptocam (f-froid available, open source), which doesn't store encryption keys on a device. If there is no key on a device, there is no possibility to leak or extort it. You may even ask a friend to keep the key for you, and never actually be in the possesion of that key.
