Why do they want the names to change?

My best guess, distraction. Attempting to take control of the story of bitcoin. I don't think this is innocent or innocuous.

Seems like they have a need to constantly innovate. Sometimes its necessary when real flaws in design are discovered but...name change for the sake of it? 🙄

That is another possibility. Look at western society. Once most of societies problems were solved (hunger, medicine etc) they started creating new weird 'problems' and 'solutions'. I am very distrusting these days though and I can't escape the feeling that psychological warfare is being utilised. This, on top of the utterly pointless op return debate, neither of which are improving security or enabling more people to participate through running a node.
