a huge reality check for me is searching nostr and/or lightning network on reddit. tiny subreddits and mostly skeptical posts that Lightning doesn’t work and nostr is full of criminals. these are such obscure technologies that i have decided my life to for the past 7 years and the majority of people have no idea exists. I keep going because it’s obviously the right *technical* solution, and i can’t imagine working on whats popular vs what is right.

I think the few people who do comment on the ewlsewheres seem to be impressed by it technically, but for now not interested in it culturally. Which is quite good really.

there are like 12,000 lightning nodes, is that centralized? I think the usage of custodial nodes on nostr is pretty bad, but that just means we have more work to do.
Many such case I see of being called to "do something", whether by God or the Universe . . . doesn't matter. I am driven to spend time on ideas that have a 1% chance of being something I see happen in my lifetime. I don't really have a choice because NOT doing that thing means anything else I do will be polluted by it. Something is going on because I ain't the only one who's been "called". I had the same experience, so I started writing about using the lightning network because it seemed like people thought Inwas crazy. A few years ago, most bitcoiners I talked to didn't have a lightning address. It would be nice to change this criminal image though. Maybe we should design a charity NIP. Back in the day, dogecoin dorks donated dogecoin to various causes back in the day. I think charitable zaps might help our image.
Depends what your definition of a bitcoiners is. Most "bitcoiners" are in it for the fiat gains, it seems to me. Too many others follow the Church of Saylor!! Lightning has had great potential for years now. Never fulfilling that potential because the vast majority of Bitcoin holders don't understand a circular economy, nor do they care. It's an unfortunate truth. Go to Africa, they understand that Bitcoin is money. If the US didn't just pretend it liked btc, then we'd see change. Unfortunately for us, the White House can't weaponise Bitcoin.
