I think there is value in your children attending school, regardless the content delivered to them i.e. social, routine, competition, love and relationships.. As a parent, I want my kid exposed to as much as possible, encourage them to critically think, and help guide. It could also be detrimental to sell them your own narrow views.
You are certainly not alone in this line of thinking. The problem is, the misconception that brick and mortar schools have a monopoly on those aspects of education and socialization. It’s admittedly more work to find those environments, but in my experience, has been more than worth it. My indoctrination comment was a bit tongue in cheek - while public school will offer exactly one version of how to understand the world, we have been quite intentional about teaching our children *how to learn* rather than attempting to sell them our worldview. This is discussed extensively in the episode and my book.

About halfway through this podcast and wow—such a high-signal convo. You don’t need to be a parent to get value from this one. 💡 Delayed obedience is disobedience 💡 Obey first, ask questions later 💡 Make good decisions, be good leaders 💡 Your kids need you to be present 💡 90% of being a good parent is just being a good person I’m not a parent (yet), but these are mantras I want to revisit if / when the time comes. Excited to dive into your book, @George Mekhail : “I Am Not Your Bra: 21 Keys to Sound Parenting” Such a killer title 🤣 View quoted note →
