Picked up my new toy yesterday. A S19 J Pro. First impressions... It is heavy! Weights about 16kg. Lot more than I expected. It has two power cables. Never had that on anything before. Do I need to plug both in? Anyone got any setup guides or videos on how to use it? My plan is to plug it in, switch it on, hope I don't blow the house electrics up, plug ethernet cable in, see what IP it gets on the network and try and connect to that in a browser. No idea what I am doing.

An S19 places a significant & sustained load on the circuit where you plug them in on. It's drawing about 3KW constantly. I've not plugged one in but most people I know have had an electrician run a new isolated circuit specifically for it. @Baz. might have some info.
By his writing sounds like he's in the USA. I doubt he'll even find an outlet in his residence he can plug it into. I'm pretty sure those run on 220 volts. So ya he'll need to get an electrician.
Yeah that's a consideration I didn't even factor in. That increases the chance you damage the miner since it needs to draw way more current to compensate.

I'm In AU. I have a workshop that I am hoping is on its own circuit. I need to do a bit of testing. Going to be interesting and educational that is for sure.

Brisket is right. If you don't know what you are doing, consultant an electrician. And it is different to something like a toaster which only ever runs for a few minutes at a time and is always supervised. All part of the education!

Other than that, you are on the right track. Plug both cables in and find it's IP address. If it's second hand, it will probably start mining for the old owner straight away. Disconnect the internet. Or get in there and delete the mining pools from the configuration. Then it will run in standby mode and shouldn't blow anything up while you play with your new toy!
AU person here with electric background. 3kw / 240volts is 12.5Amps (average). But the manual clearly states 20Amps. Most AU domestic circuits are 10A for ALL (total burst) outlets on that circuit. Hence the reason for 2 plugs. Even if your workshop had a 15A outlet for welders and such it might still blow the breaker/fuse). So you need to find 2 different circuits on your property. I do NOT recommend touching your main fuse box but there may be some sheet inside which says which rooms are in what circuit. Either way your missus ain't gonna like the extension cords snaking around the house or thru windows so I see a sparky in your future 🔮 Disclaimer: electrics will kill you. Nostr opinions and advise won't protect you from that. Take care. image

Thanks everyone. The workshop is on a 20Amp circuit by the looks of it. I have plugged it and and got it running and no issues so far. I haven't left it on for any real length of time though. Hour at most. I am thinking that I will need a sparky to come in. I got some previous work done and he had to change a breaker to be a 10amp because I have got single core cable. I don't like the thought of drawing a big load on that if it is no longer allowed a 20amp breaker. I can turn the miner on "low" mode so it isn't drawing as much but not sure how much less it is. I need to test it. I got a wattmeter the other day so I will have a look when I get a chance.
