What makes Nostr different from most other attempts is that it took two bold choices and a boring one. The first bold move was to put cryptography at the center; The second bold move was to let go of any attempt or pretense of a "global state"; The boring safe move was to pick JSON. I once posted that Nostr is a verb, and that is because it is all human action. There is no system that guarantees you anything, beside perhaps the (assumption of) integrity of keypairs. The result is that at every turn, we will need webs of trust to solve the issues we encounter; which is ultimately the flexible extension of dicernment, a social phenomena. As such, I posit that Nostr is the first true social medium, and perhaps that is the boldest thing of all. Nostr. (Ceterum censeo NIP-03 omnibus esse utendum)
