If your client does not use Outbox model yet, please go to click relays and set it up. Without that setting, Outbox clients cannot find your posts. Your follows won't find you. Tips: - You only need a maximum of 4 relays in that list. - Mark as "Write" the relays that have all content written and signed by you. - Mark as "Read" the public relays that you want your follows to use when sending notifications to you. That's all you need to do.

Cool! I just backed up my metadata. How do you pick relays? Mine are read and write. Is that a problem? What happens if you pick more than four?
If I have a list of relays that each have setting on whether to post/fetch/search, why do we suddenly need an inbox, and outbox, a DM relay, a search relay and so forth? Why can't the software just use the existing list?
Because they dont do the same thing. If you want privacy, you want to use the DM relay list, otherwise all of your DM travel through public relays. Each section has its own benefits. The old main list is a dumb way of using nostr.
You should be able to create an app and get a bunker url from Amber to paste on the site's login. But push notifications are a bit iffi, so it might require you to change Amber's settings to keep running and get notifications from the relay connection.
Thanks for this post, I had been wanting to update my relays but forgetting the exact steps to do it. Do you know how we can properly use the cryptocurrency_address field on metadata.nostr.com ?
Maybe you are right. I have opened the JSON file, and I cannot find my private key. However, I do see signatures and other items that I do not understand. That was the reason for my question. However, I took the gamble and backed it up to the cloud already without encryption...
I'm sure now, definitely no private key. I don't understand much about the signatures either but the signatures are always public on the nostr relays too as I understand it. Good of you to open up the file and check it out ๐Ÿค™
That definitely needs more explanation. Also the low numbers of relays that are sugested. The LN and networks in general are clearly scaling better with more nodes. So such things need a wider and appropriate research article, to test and explain why all the sudden basic network facts do not apply in a specific network.
Can we put "local" and "private" relays section into one? And also the "general" and "recomended" into one?
I just did an update froman VERY old version. It was not too difficult to fill my list with defaults but why do I need to do such a complex thing in order for it to work at all? I'd prefer to do it the dumb way over have it broken. I'm not even sure anyone can read me.
I can see you've been on here for a while. It's definitely improved since you first joined, I agree that the different relays are confusing.

Try force closing the app and opening it again. Try enabling tor If none of that works change the notification type to connect directly to the relays instead of using the push server

GrapheneOS baby! It asks you if you want to enable internet when you first install any app. I must have figured this app didn't need internet way back when. And it works with #Amethtyst without internet... how awesome is that!

Oh, I forgot to check if I can ask for that permission when it's disabled
So the problem that this proposal "solves" is relays not setting high enough prices for the bandwidth we use?
