Been running one for about 6 months. Get your node running and grab a miner, why not? Then start to migrate all your files and data to your own server and take sovereignty over your privacy. End all cloud data subscriptions. Back up to and external hard drive and save in a separate location. Enjoy!

Have at least 2TB of storage. Run your own Bitcoin and Lightning nodes. Connect your wallets. Self-host your own nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm hub. Run your own Nostr relay. If you have a home miner, run Datum. You can do a lot if you really want to get into it.

Don't forget nostr:npub18d4r6wanxkyrdfjdrjqzj2ukua5cas669ew2g5w7lf4a8te7awzqey6lt3! I always keep it open on a second monitor as a beautiful reminder that Bitcoin can't be stopped.

DIY mini PC with upgraded 2TB SATA SSD as a Bitcoin node, file server, electrum instance (so you don’t have to broadcast Bitcoin TX info through someone else’s server), running Datum Gateway for mining, and some P2P private messaging. Upgrade to a 4TB SSD if you can. And join the Start9 forums to meet tons of helpful people. Get a UPS to provide backup power to your router, internet modem, your start9 server, and your primary PC in the event of power blips or short term outages.

Get a computer. Install Ubuntu or mint or fedora. Bonus points for just using Ubuntu server. Install them one by one. Not too hard and there are a ton of guides out there. Any computer will probably do for this but if you're running a lightning node, high uptime is a must so get something reliable. But spec wise, basically anything in the past 10 years can run all this ez.

I use it for nearly everything everyone mentioned, plus "Start9 Pages' to host my own .onion web pages, Core Lightning node that I connected to my Zeus android app, RoboSats, BTC Pay Server, noStrudel Nostr client, SearXNG for enhanced privacy search engine, VaultWarden password manager, and Webtop virtual instance of Linux

I love my Start9. Ben Perin has some great videos and tutorials (YouTube) on how to set one up, as well as connecting Sparrow Wallet, etc. It’s pretty straight forward for a non-techie.

I'm fairly non-techical but was blown away with the ease of set up and use. I'm currently using it to: - run a node - store sensitive passwords and info (Vaultwarden) - buy P2P sats (Robosats) - manage my contacts and related info (NextCloud) I plan on doing a lot more in the future Start9 is having a Black Friday sale starting on Monday I believe. You can get 12% off using my code 88SATS 🫡
