World Cups are pretty pointless. People get so emotional about them, but nothing actually changes in anyone’s real life. The players and organizers just get richer, and that’s it. Four years later you might remember once or twice who even won. Otherwise you’re back to your same crappy job the next day, dealing with inflation and all your usual problems. Nothing changes for you. You cheer your team on and get nothing out of it if they win. That should be different. What if, for example, when a country wins the World Cup, every citizen got a 25% tax break? Or people from the winning country could fly for free with any airline for the next four years? Then it would actually mean something. But the way it is now, it’s just bullshit. By the way, Messi broke 2 records in one game a few hours ago. Today Portugal is playing, and England vs Croatia is basically a round of 16 game already.
