There is no other way to send or receive sats over NOSTR other than opening up lightning channels in some way, shape, or form, is that correct?

You can download an app like wallet of satoshi and assign it to you Primal ..

No need for that, they support Nostr Wallet Connect for free, like most clients nowadays
Get coinos.io Lightning for free and anonymously and then connect it to Primal, Yakihonne or Jumble via NWC.
Yes, if you're running your own node then you'll have to open and manage channels like that. Bht if you just want to zap on nostr then a custodial lightning wallet is easiest. @Mysterious Hamster is very easy to set up, has NWC that syncs with basically any client, and has great liquidity.
