It's an interesting moment toreflectt on your sense making. How does one do it? I can understand at some level what bitcoin is. I can want to support it and believe in it as a tool, and as a movement. And I'm even technical enough (or maybe it's just brave enough) to figure out how to put my coins onto cold storage...but I'm not technical enough to verify with 100℅ certainty that the method with which I'm doing so is legit. I have to trust people. At least I think so. It wasn't just podcasts that suggested it. And I didn't see too much cold card criticism before this..anyway I didn't get wiped by this one thankfully. Coins secured and will learn from this moving forward. View quoted note →
Veracypt gathers entropy from mouse movements to encrypt your data. THiS METHOD IS THERE FOR 22 FUCKING YEARS. Guess why. Yet magically, people trust some closed-source hardware RNGs when it comes to even more important stuff like protecting money. Keep listening to google and apple that HSMs and hardware attestation is good and you will all end exactly like those who lost the money or even worse in multiple other cases. And NO. Server side HSMs keeping 6 digit pin for "X chat" are NOT GOOD. This is BAD IMPLEMENTATION. Phone HSMs are BAD IMPLEMENTATION. You are all shooting yourself in the foot.
