I usually take a billion photos of everything, so i can't believe this is the *only* shot I got at the SeedSigner booth.๐Ÿค”๐Ÿง๐Ÿ˜ฎ image Maybe it was because I was having such a good time chatting with the man who came up with the SeedSigner architecture?๐Ÿ˜† (NOTE: He's right here on nostr). @SeedSigner has created a brilliant tool that DOESN'T do a lot of things. The SeedSigner *doesn't* connect to the internet. It doesn't store your bitcoin private keys. It doesn't cost a fortune, or hide any secrets of how it works. It doesn't take an expert to build it at home from off-the-shelf parts (I've built three so far). And it *doesn't* store your private keys in some device or memory or format that's questionably secure. In fact, it doesn't store your private keys at all! When you disconnect the power, your private keys disappear with the vanishing electricity. What DOES this amazing device do? I'll let you explore that for yourself at https://SeedSigner.com , but I will say I've been blown away by how easy it is to use and how capably it secures my bitcoin. I was blessed by my brief visit with @SeedSigner . He's still learning and inventing, and is a keen observer of the world of bitcoin. We tried exchanging Cashu tokens, but perhaps our eCash wallets weren't quite in tune?๐Ÿค” Prolific SeedSigner dev Keith Mukai was also at the booth, but I missed my chance to chat with him... Shoutout to @Keith Mukai, and thanks for all you're doing.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป I've even heard rumors that the SeedSigner might one day support signing "notes and other stuff."

Some of the VERY BEST proof of work at bitcoin2024 was on display in a relatively small corner of the vast exhibit hall. Space was reserved, and (as I best understand it) donated to open-sourced projects supporting the bitcoin ecosystem. I'll be sharing some of those projects, along with a few photos and my opinions, in upcoming notes about the conference(s).๐Ÿ˜ƒ image View quoted note โ†’

It's not surprising that I forgot the final result of our test...๐Ÿ˜œ There was so much going on that day!๐Ÿ˜ƒ Friend, a bit of advice; try to avoid getting old! It does a number on your memory!๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚
(caveat: that was just an experimental branch that I never intended to PR into the main repo. I do want to pull over the bip39 mnemonic-to-nsec derivation, but the other nostr-related functions don't really make sense in an air-gapped signer. It'd be different if nip26 had become widely adopted, but alas, good key management in nostr was not to be (not that nip26 was perfect either, though))
Thanks for the added word... I think of nostr as the new "wild, wild West" of the internet; plenty of excitement to go around, lots of work needed, and something interesting for everyone to do who's willing to pitch in.๐Ÿ˜ƒ
Now for a brief parentheses in my collection of short bitcoin2024 tales... image How is it that I ended up in Nashville attending this amazing conference to begin with?๐Ÿค” Unbeknownst to me, it all started when I entered a songwriting contest sponsored by the event. Presumably because of the Nashville venue, a "Bitcoin Record" was in the works, and I submitted "Asymmetric Liberty" in the hope of seeing it chosen for the special platter. I was quite surprised when, even though my song didn't make it "on the record," the conference comped me an Industry ticket to the event... I just HAD to go, and I'm so glad I did.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ˜

I met and had a nice conversation with @jb55, creator of the nostr Damus client for iOS. I don't use #Damus, but I've followed Will's Apple adventures with considerable interest. Will kindly engaged in a wide-ranging conversation with me, which included a brief excursion into my personal fantasy plans to build a spaceship... Not 100% fantasy, as you'll discover if you watch the video embedded in my article:
