Any new candidates or leadership that emerges in the Democratic Party side of things, I’m hitting them hard with info on bitcoin and how they better get with the program or voters will tell them what’s up. There is a massive old guard v new guard dynamic. This isn’t because I love politics or our two party system. But because that’s an avenue of influence I have to try to make a positive different and less attack vectors to bitcoin rights and freedom in the U.S. and around the world. The Democratic Party will have its Trump moment (what Trump did to the Republican Party in ‘16). And I want to make sure when that happens they’ve been presented with a good road map for how to approach bitcoin (freedom, self custody, privacy, developers, power to the people)

Good luck, because IMHO it's a tough sell right now... While I'm glad the current admin seems interested in taking the boot off the neck of the crypto industry in general, the net effect of this is that Bitcoin is perceived as wearing the MAGA hat by just about anyone on the left (centrist or progressives). We had to deal with the "it's all just for drugs" narrative in the early-2010's, the "it's all just a big waste of energy" narrative in the late-2010's, and now "it's all Trump Corruption Money" is the new narrative for 2025.

Not OP, but what I perceive is a conflict between a sort of more technocratic / realpolitik wing of centrists, think Gavin Newsom as the "face" and people like Ezra Klein as the technocrats.... And on the other side, a newly energized wave of Socialists like Zohran Mamdani in NYC, but as opposed to the past decade, less emphasis on the "woke" and more on the "eat the rich"/"Free Luigi".

Yeah the Israel thing will be tough for the Dems to figure out. Trump admin has stayed pretty staunchly pro-Israel in a way that seems incongruous with their base... Dems might wind up following a similar path, although if they're smart they'd realize how much this cost them in Michigan where Arab groups rebelled against Kamela.
