I've got a mile-long mute list, myself, but it's unnerving to know that your conversations are actually interspersed with a small army of perverts and haters.
Men don't have this problem, as often, and they find it less disconcerting.

I agree that men likely do recieve less of this type of behaviour from creeps and so on, and that when they do they are less sensitive to it, but what are we to do if it is a question of biology?
A developer couldn't possibly allow for what somebody might find disconcerting, not to my knowledge at least.
The best solution they have is for everyone to choose what they do and don't see.
imagine going to a party where everyone is kind and and friendly, except that one guy who is annoying, creeps on you and makes you feel uncomfortable. heck, he may even hate you and want to plot your death and the death of anyone who is remotely like you.
now, imagine going to a party but every person is that guy. This person not only internally thinks you're a shitstain but openly vocalizes their opinions as facts. And it's a whole room of these people, all cursing you in chorus for simply being who you are. Oh, but there's one person who is kind and nice.
Doesn't seem worth it to stay, does it.
