If at this point you don't have a Bitcoin (preferably lightning) wallet with some money for spending, you are either lazy or stupid, probably both. I've heard many sob stories of people saying they'll get to it later, but it's too complicated. No it's not, it has never been easier. Use the internet, meet some people and get to it. Porn stars, single moms and grandmas routinely use Bitcoin. If you can use venmo or PayPal or whatever system you use for fiat, Bitcoin is the same but easier. Another case is of course the Nocoiner syndrome (see https://cryptoanarchy.institute/ for the diagnostic and treatment manual). Everyone knows that Bitcoin is the future. Some of us knows it's also the present. Fiat system is dying. And you're lazy? Didn't have time to get to it? It's too complicated? Pathetic. Sorry to say that, but that's just it.

I use Monero daily, LN occasionally. Have to say we reached a dead end for now 200 million BTC "owners" or more of which not even 1/1000 use it regularily. BTC adoption was more advanced 10 years ago.

VPS, VPN, proxystores, xmrbazaar, shopinbit, esims, giftcards and of course in real life. I ask at every pos if they would accept Monero. Success depends on your personal ties with the merchant. Freelancers are those who agree most easily. The key to success: I don't have a credit or debit card which motivates me to create my personal Monero network. I'd challenge every self proclaimed BTC maxi to do the same. Walk the talk if you want to be taken seriously.

I heard from people they had their channels force-closed and I also saw the fees involved so never really considered using Phoenix myself. Watching your video, I became interested to read up on it tho πŸ‘ Still seems quite complicated to understand all the workings and fees but it's nice to see the UI makes it simple to use it as quick means of payment. People actually recommended it to me saying it was private but in their FAQ it says: The current version of Phoenix offers no advantage regarding privacy over existing, hosted, custodial wallets. We (ACINQ) know the final destination and amount of payments. Do you have experience with Zeus wallet in terms of ease of use, privacy and self custody? They say it's actually private and also simple to use tho I'm not sure as it says you have to connect to a ln node yourself to start off.

Zeus is a full LN node. It connects to other nodes to open channels, but everything like routing is done by the node, which makes it more private, but also a bit slower. You can also use it just as a front end to an existing node, but where it shines it just running the full node on your end device. I would consider it for shops that wasn't to sovereignly receive. Phoenix is also self custodial node, but leaves routing to the server. That means that routing is super fast and works. It can't take your money. Theoretically it could overcharge you on fees, but in case of Phoenix even that can't happen, because the fees are fixed 0.4%. For payment privacy you can use lnproxy. Destination in that case is just random one time key.

When having a zeus node running on my phone can I go offline or does it cause issue? Is this the all-in-one solution for having a working privacy preserving ln wallet on my phone? BTC people told me it's easy and more private than monero but I don't trust like that. It seems so complicate πŸ˜”
