People > Algorithms Still new here and figuring out how to curate my feed. I’m following pretty much everyone, because I’d rather have more voices and more content to engage with. My theory is simple: if someone posts things I don’t like, or just spams, I’ll unfollow. But in the meantime: more content = more community. Is this the right move? What have you tried?

I have been greedy to follow i don't follow no one. Only special people. I don't want my feed to be over crowded. I want small but engaging people. This idea is failing, i dont get much replies in what i post. And people vanish. So i think i will alsofollow your idea. You will grow. Your content speaks for itself.

I am also new here...I first started by searching up certain topics and hash tags and saving those...and then following people who post in those topics. I will do the same as you...if I follow but then see something that doesn't jive with me...I'll unfollow.
Most clients let you log in with someone else's npub to give you a read only view of their feed. This can be a good way to identify more people you want to follow

the only problem i have is how much time it takes to follow a lot of ppl. So i now look by the "most zapped" to add more people or some interesting comments from other notes

make sure you're #following & using #hashtags to #find #people to #follow and to be #found.

If a note resonates with you, check who zapped, liked, or replied. There are also follow feeds for topics, hashtags and algorithm feeds. You can mute words as well (like nsfw, etc)
Welcome to Nostr. I did the same thing at first, and I'm still looking for more people to follow that share interesting content or have interesting insights or opinions. People to engage with. Following.space has some lists of people to follow that might be helpful. It's still early days on Nostr but there's a few different niche interest communities on here with really interesting people.
You can always use multiple accounts. One for friends one for following everyone etc. one for your real identity one that's anonymous etc.
#grownostr is another. Making a note with the introduction/s hashtag is another way. At a certain point you hit critical mass if you have enough followers sharing your content other people will find you that way.

That actually makes a lot of sense. I kind of approach it the same way cast a wide net first, then slowly refine as I figure out whose posts resonate with me and whose don’t. It feels more organic than trying to “optimize” my feed from the start. The cool part is, sometimes the unexpected voices end up being the ones that stick with you the most. How are you finding the balance so far too much noise, or still manageable? I'm also new here btw
You better start adding 14 is going to be boring!! It's working well I have removed some that just don't resonate.

I follow only a hand full of active people, and then browse threads, replies, profiles, the occational hashtag etc. Always end up in weird fringe but relevant places rather quickly that way. In other words, other than the barebones minimum i don't use feeds at all.

I am adding🙃
I just do my thing… never been into being a big deal on SM, I’m here for oddballs, music lovers, privacy info and cats. Cat content is shockingly low but we’re early….
I heard that hashtags don’t work too well here… no idea if that’s true or not.
