People > Algorithms
Still new here and figuring out how to curate my feed.
I’m following pretty much everyone, because I’d rather have more voices and more content to engage with.
My theory is simple: if someone posts things I don’t like, or just spams, I’ll unfollow.
But in the meantime:
more content = more community.
Is this the right move? What have you tried?

🙋 total newb here, I've been putting #plebchain in most posts. Not sure if it works, worth a try
I have been greedy to follow i don't follow no one. Only special people. I don't want my feed to be over crowded. I want small but engaging people.
This idea is failing, i dont get much replies in what i post. And people vanish. So i think i will alsofollow your idea.
You will grow. Your content speaks for itself.
Also asknostr for me.
I am also new here...I first started by searching up certain topics and hash tags and saving those...and then following people who post in those topics. I will do the same as you...if I follow but then see something that doesn't jive with me...I'll unfollow.
Just allow your bitcoiner mindset to lead the way.
Yep I agree. Follow a bunch then whittle it down if it doesn’t fit 😊
spams, unfollow
posts things you don't like? sometimes can be engaging 😉
Yeah, sane. --its easy to mute or unfollow later
🌻
Yeah. For me, Lots of racist or extreme political crap, I'm out.
anyone who cares about race or politics, didn't stack hard enough
Are you a Bitcoin Enthusiast?
Most clients let you log in with someone else's npub to give you a read only view of their feed. This can be a good way to identify more people you want to follow
the only problem i have is how much time it takes to follow a lot of ppl.
So i now look by the "most zapped" to add more people or some interesting comments from other notes
This was very helpful. Thank you!
make sure you're #following & using #hashtags to #find #people to #follow and to be #found.
I’m doing that as well! So far I like the content from the people I’m following! :) trying to build community on here
This seems to be the best way. Like you said, you can always curate your feed to how you like it in the future.
If a note resonates with you, check who zapped, liked, or replied. There are also follow feeds for topics, hashtags and algorithm feeds. You can mute words as well (like nsfw, etc)
I need to look into this following relays business you speak of. Sounds like a good option.
indeed
follow the people following and being active that's my move
Welcome to Nostr.
I did the same thing at first, and I'm still looking for more people to follow that share interesting content or have interesting insights or opinions. People to engage with.
Following.space has some lists of people to follow that might be helpful.
It's still early days on Nostr but there's a few different niche interest communities on here with really interesting people.
You can always use multiple accounts. One for friends one for following everyone etc. one for your real identity one that's anonymous etc.
#grownostr is another.
Making a note with the introduction/s hashtag is another way.
At a certain point you hit critical mass if you have enough followers sharing your content other people will find you that way.
That actually makes a lot of sense. I kind of approach it the same way cast a wide net first, then slowly refine as I figure out whose posts resonate with me and whose don’t. It feels more organic than trying to “optimize” my feed from the start. The cool part is, sometimes the unexpected voices end up being the ones that stick with you the most.
How are you finding the balance so far too much noise, or still manageable? I'm also new here btw
You better start adding 14 is going to be boring!!
It's working well I have removed some that just don't resonate.
I follow only a hand full of active people, and then browse threads, replies, profiles, the occational hashtag etc.
Always end up in weird fringe but relevant places rather quickly that way.
In other words, other than the barebones minimum i don't use feeds at all.
I am adding🙃
Welcome. Enjoy the journey and you’re inspiring me to show up again so thank you 😀
I use many different Nostr apps. I use Damus to browse my follow feed, Primal to browse my trending feed, and Jumble to browse relay and algo feeds.
Iris is also really good now
You can also browse relay feeds on Damus, but I really like Jumble so it’s just part of my daily routine to browse relay feeds on Jumble while on my desktop
I just do my thing… never been into being a big deal on SM, I’m here for oddballs, music lovers, privacy info and cats. Cat content is shockingly low but we’re early….
If you browse a relay feed, I suggest browsing a paid relay like nostr.wine. Otherwise you’ll probably see some wild shit you don’t want to see.
I heard that hashtags don’t work too well here… no idea if that’s true or not.
Dogs are cool too :)
