Speaking of natural medicines, I had a friend who I’d go out kayaking with in Michigan. He’d pick out seemingly random plants from the marsh and munch on them. I was young and to me this was all weird at the time. But he sure seemed to know what he was doing. He wrote many books on edible wild plants and co-authored a ton more - all on wild plants, herbs, mushrooms etc. He was also into survival stuff and would go out with practically nothing for days. I thought - if I’m ever lost in the wild, I hope he’s there, it’s the one person you want to be stuck with in the middle of nowhere who seems to know the wilderness inside out. He’d always tell me about all the plants and what they were good for.

Amazing
We got some great land in Michigan.
Most plants can be used as food one way or another here.
Kinda amazing.
Yea, that knowledge can feel like a superpower.
It is kind of a cool knowledge!
I think we need more connection to the nature. We tend to lose our minds more, the further we get from nature.
That ancestral knowledge is very useful. When I was a girl, I lived in the jungle for a while, and part of our first aid kit was a book like your friend's.
