Nostr is signal, Threads is noise.
Stick with it. Nostr is the long game strategy of building up quality engagement and following over time without the Big Social algorithms. There is also a difference in market share. Nostr is still very young. Threads enjoys the *benefits* of being built out of an existing platform with a substantial user base. Try to bring more people from Threads over this direction 😎.

How is the threads engagement after 2 weeks? I haven’t gotten on at all so I don’t know what it’s like over there
It's harder to find people here, no algorithm We also don't really have critical mass in lots of subgenre of content for an algorithm to feed on
Could it be that many of those 20K followers are bots or made-up numbers? I'd take a few Zaps over 20K likes anytime. With NOSTR, we follow you independently of the platform. This means you are building a strong foundation that you own and control. Long-time preference is key. Most importantly, being immune from censorship or shadow banning is priceless. Don’t give up, Cris 🫂🇧🇷

true. please stick with us though. and bring them Threads followers over. :)
I think there is an important point here. We do need both user and content discovery to work better on nostr. Centralized platforms do a lot to help boost folks who’s content or accounts are getting engagement. Make an amazing video and you’ll get millions of views in tiktok as a nobody. Write the witty tweet and it goes viral. Specifically they also do a lot so that new people find content and people to follow. When new users post they get engagement and response very quickly. Nostr does some of this. A year ago interviewed folks I found on Tumblr who had talked about scuttlebutt, but had gone back to tumblr. Their main reason for returning to tumblr rather than scuttlebutt was because they got comments and reposts with tumblr. Engagement matters. When I show non-crypto folks nostr they often go away because they don’t find their people or content. Not because of zaps or the design of the apps or the way nostr works. They don’t and aren’t going to care about Bitcoin. For nostr to succeed we need to pay more attention to those early days from deciding they’re going to try nostr to it becoming a habit to use every day.

What do followers really follow? I still don’t get it. Jesus told his disciples once..”ye are all sons of God”

Its much harder to do true follower count on nostr, so it’s reasonable to assume its undercounted. Jack Dorsey likely have more that the 900 followers I see
