unsettling. however i read this in the morning:

They're basically gearing up for internal uprisings, you know, because of the economic crisis and all that simmering unrest among the people.
I think Europe is deluded to think they can reverse decades of military atrophy in a matter of a few short years.

very unsettling. it is just a shock to see how young the kids are signing up for the military.
At least in the US, most kids of enlisting age (18-25), probably couldn’t tell youe ough about the world wars or viernam to fill a postcard.

you mentioned that there will need to mend bridges and highways in Germany... is that for deferred maintenance? if so, maybe i should dust off my resume.
i am just going over in my head theoretically if i could move to germany. it seems very nice on the surface, but then when i look at the news it's scary.
i have an old friend there and i'm like partly considering just moving to see if i could actually date her. it's a crazy idea but part of me just wants to try it. like what's the harm in trying, and if i don't try, it will never happen and there's no better time than the present, etc. etc. so i might just check the job market over there.
oh sorry, i reread it and I see that you mentioned the the civil work is for the mobilisation...
