The Voyage app's onboarding is the only client (I know of) that tried a different approach with hashtags /topic follows, rather than people follows. The recommended follows on nostr are particularly offputting. They are either people from bitcointwitter who barely even post. Or people who are a tight clique here but perhaps offer little to no interest to someone new. But then again you assume everyone is social media-savvy enough to know that user recommendations on platforms are typically not the greatest offerings, anyway.
