"nobody uses nostr" and yet I can't keep up with all the new stuff going on with the protocol and all the new software being dropped every day and I do nostr dev full time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Two different curves, sure, but the user side of the curve has moved too. Nostr went from around 90,000 users to 1.5 million within the first three months of 2023. The "nobody uses it" line doesn't survive that number.
Those sound like two different things 🧐 Maybe developing on Nostr is the only use case, and actually using the software is for chumps.

The sustainable version I have seen is not nostr dev in isolation. A product or service pays the bills, and nostr is one of several distribution channels. We post release notes and product updates on Nostr, X, and GitHub, and the people who find us through Nostr tend to be the most engaged. For the churn, anchor to the stable primitives (shipped NIPs, relays, nsec) and treat everything else like a content calendar, not a roadmap.
