People who are idealistically pro trump defend every action of his despite him trumping free speech in broad daylight is a sign that small people and their notions are the weakest links in any formidable system.

(Not arguing) but what free speech violations are you referring to?
I rarely watch political news.
Well I like many things Trump is doing because we have seen a societal collaps due to drugs and family unity destruction. I do not agree on anything he says and does but the situation is way better than before.
fair point - it's legit when someone's doing stuff that actually hits the needle on real shit like fentanyl tearing families apart. but sliding into "yeah but he banned tiktok cuz china" vibes is where it gets sus. freedom's fragile - gotta call the bad moves even when the good ones feel nice.
You can’t post anything against the US even if your disagree with any of their views if you’re on visa.
Agreed on better situation than before in regards to free flow of illegal entries into US posing a security nightmare.
I do not agree in government being able to ban anything. Still they should expose if there is a majority of fake accounts perhaps handled by china or other enemies. I do not know anyway. I used TikTok for 10 days then I realized it was slowly pushing me from DIY projects to stupid cats and girls stuff and I uninstalled it. And I do not use anything that could be government controlled
Well from what I know they were able to ask for your social media account even few years ago to check. Probably they were checking if you were anti LGBTQ and now they are checking if you are anti USA. Anyway I deleted all the mainstream account years ago so my answer is: I use CB radio only
Sure you can.
What you CANT do is lead a protest at your university or sow dissent in your host country. Dont like the USA? Then Gtfo
Can you imagine what would happen if you tried that shit in any other country?
Btw, I’m not pro trump.
—Yeah I voted for him because the alternative was way worse and the Biden administration legitimately disallowed free speech regarding vaccines or alternative treatments.
I’d have voted for him over Biden/kamala in the last election. Agreed about protesters thing. But that’s not where it stops. Now they’re after social media. The very thing that created nostr in the first place. People still believe US is some kinda safe zone for free speech. It’s not anymore.
but if you enter illegally, you can burn down the neighbourhood in many blue cities. mental.
Yep. That’s not good. So I don’t support it, not just for US ,for any country.
The US has a strong history of using such events and disasters to take over peoples rights of freedom, privacy away. What’s happening now is one such event.
Id agree with you that liberties are absolutely being eroded.
Both parties are guilty of this.
Can’t agree more.
i think it's fair to say that saying "death to the great satan" on social media while holding a visa and living in the country should be grounds for terminating the visa. to be fair, they get a free flight back home and life ban also
That’s how it starts. Slowly it’s gonna be anybody disagreeing with the overlords will be put down. If you don’t see a pattern, this post is for you.
exactly. once the "just the obvious foreign extremists" threshold gets baked in law, the line creeps like ivy. first it's visas, then green cards, then citizens "aiding enemies," then any tweet that smells like dissent. every administration just turns the dial a hair more.
Pattern's been repeating since Alien & Sedition Acts → Patriot Act → NDAA → Project 2025 draft playbook. they'll keep using "safety" as the shovel till privacy is buried.
privacy isn't piecemeal. it's all-or-nothing, whether you're holding a passport or a petition.
The idea of nostr is decentralized network for free speech. It had be made to give voice to people who can’t have free speech on grounds of whatever. You can have a president who has a nightmare and gonna pass regulations to deport a particular ethnicity out. That’s not running a country. That’s someone who’s trying to be an authoritarian. If you’re backing that, you’d feel fine until he gets a Nightmare about ur state or culture or race.
"the situation is way better than before" on what axis, specifically? He's stopped Fentanyl by ... (checks notes)... Tariffing nations on the other side of the planet, and ziptying Guatemalan grandma's?
and yes, btw, i'm saying that it should be considered a misdemeanor to PUBLISH pornography. it's incitement to lust. this is detrimental to the social fabric.
That grad student at Tufts was grabbed off the street and detained for writing an editorial.... which was criticizing ISRAEL, to be clear.
"What you CANT do is lead a protest at your university or sow dissent in your host country"
So, what would otherwise be 100% protected 1st amendment free speech? What part of the law say that *doesn't* apply to immigrants?
"Biden administration legitimately disallowed free speech regarding vaccines or alternative treatments."
Not praising Biden admin, but who was arrested or detained for that?
So between sleeping with pornstars and getting involved with pedophiles, that’s where you do draw a line? Publishing porn?
Arson's still illegal. There's plenty to complain about how Blue cities are being managed, and many on the center-left (c.f. Ezra Klein, etc) do so -- but they aren't "burning". That's Fox News propaganda.
However, what we have now is a _stated_, and official policy of the State department demanding social media credentials from foreign Visa applicants. To judge their "purity" I guess? Who exactly gets to be the judge of that?
This is the worst point of freedom of speech in US and active segregation of people which is not lawful.
"also, the real background picture here is they are trying to push up wages, by restricting access to supply. i don't think there is anything else to it."
Umm there's plenty else to it. Detentions like Ozturk and Mahmoud Khalil have nothing to do with economics. That's not going to help some Rust belt red-hatter get his job at the plant back.
These are politically / racially motivated acts, 100%. Stephen Miller's a "Camp of the Saints" guy... this is why ICE posts on its X account about "defending civilization" and all that crap to justify terrorizing Latino communities.
Ozturk was arrested because she wrote an editorial. There's literally no other stated motivation. and it was critical of ISRAEL, not the US.
"the whole purpose of immigration rules is to ensure that the new people are not a detriment to the people already living there."
woah, OK. So what is the "ideal" number of immigrants? 0? 10? 100? Show your math.
I don't have to answer that question because I believe in the free market. You do, as the Statist, because you're saying it needs to be limited.
Who gets to decide who is and isn't a "detriment"?
All of America was immigrants at some point. Should the Italians and Irish have been excluded from America, because a TON of people thought they should have back in the day?
"just like you have a right to sue the owner of land adjacent to yours in which they destroy part of the value that you had previously, like blocking access, causing shade, or any other kind of thing even like "i don't like this color they painted it" is a valid complaint if your customary rights existed before they started vandalising the neighbourhood."
This flies in the face of any conception of property rights. You *don't* have the right to the "value" of something that you've invested in. Any more than you have a "right" to tell Bitcoin what to do because it'll affect the value of your bags.
you are talking about people who were engaging in incitement, and buying the cover story that it is about race or something. it's incitement. cut and dried.
the politics these days are just straight up psychological warfare, and most of it is coming from the left. they have lost their power and their subversion is going into overdrive. and on the other side, pulling strings, are the neocons, who are also racist cunts, who spend all their time writing screeds about why we should kill and rob all kinds of designated groups of people that have nothing to do with law and justice.
what's happened is that they have normalized this, for decades, and everyone just forgets to think and repeats what their favourite influencer says.
even that, the whole influencer thing, that's propaganda and a bunch more incitement. that laser guy, who is constantly spouting fascist Calvinist doctrines, he's inciting as well.
i don't engage in incitement. i just want to be left alone, and i would like it very much if people would start looking at the real issue instead of the cartoon version.
Using the same words and changing left to right would still work, just fyi.
Writing an editorial is "incitement"?
But yeah, agree on the Influencer stuff. I find a lot of the politics here too right-wing, and I think of myself as a pretty doctrinaire libertarian.
"i don't engage in incitement. i just want to be left alone,"
I mean, hell yeah. But the Right-wing in the USA is NOT about that anymore. They're ziptying Grandma's in the street. Every day. People who are ZERO threat to society.
This is a good place to end things up, I think I agree with most of this.
Statism can come in many forms and it's very easy to think "well these are my guys in power so they're probably doing the right thing."
The 21st century has only reinforced my conviction that freedom tech like Bitcoin, and now Nostr, etc, are the only ways out of this mess.
The last 50 years all has been made to boycott freedom and capitalism. The country has been infiltrated, freedoms used to make horrible things, illegals brought in to destroy the economy and the welfare. The left always does things in a way that is irreversible unless you use violence. We expect violence fear and pain. It has been done so this will be the only way to reverse this planned decadence. Build back better is made on the ashes and on the bodies. Reverse that has a cost but will be a net gain for our children and grandchildren. Expect great pain. Reversing trillions in debt and an internet addicted youth will not be fun. And this is just the beginning.
