Nostr Vault 3.0 is out. A Nostr client built around your web of trust. You decide who you see, and every feed follows your rules. Your own relay runs inside the app, so your notes, follows and media live on your device first. New in 3.0: share your profile with a QR code, start with the circle of whoever told you about Nostr Vault, and serve your photos from your own phone over the FIPS mesh. Android: iPhone and Mac (TestFlight): Web: #nostrvault #haven #blossom #sovereign #fips #relay

what does it mean to use FIPS and have no indexers? it uses no relays?
Correct, if you run Vault on an old phone and connect your daily driver with FIPS. You do not need any relays or media servers setup on the daily driver to post to Nostr. The note is singed, sent the local relay on the daily driver device, the sent via FIPS directly to your old phone and broadcast to the Nostr relay network from there.
No indexers is a separate point entirely. NV based on the outbox model and does not use indexers to survey the network or display certain parts of the network to you, you see the entire thing filtered through your web of trust.
but what do I gain from this weird setup? oh I see, I gain the relay that archives my stuff on that old phone is that the pitch?
not exactly, its more like going to all of your following's mailboxes at their address and looking to see if they updated the relays they post on, and checking there for new ones.

Exactly! You get relay in your pocket. It’s only a weird setup because we never gave relays to people alongside their clients before. The best part is, it’s completely interoperable with your other apps, so you can go between them and know when it come back it pulls your notes in! Not to mention the Mac app, and the FIPS mesh network included.
