The logic is that this man is still living in fiat-land and is terrified of anything delaying his fiat gains. He is willing to destroy one of the most fundamental attributes of Bitcoin to avoid that possibility. Mask is off, and it's ugly underneath.

They are counting on those coins being lost to increase the value of their own coins. They fear if someone discovers those keys, or moves those coins, it might affect their purchase power. They want to steal what is not theirs and make sure they never enter circulation. Some thieves steal by printing and some steal by confiscation. Both types are scumbags.
