Never had to. 💁‍♂️ Crypto Twitter was barely a thing then. Everything was still forums/Reddit still & the algos weren't like they are today, so you actually had to go seek info; it didn't really come to you. I didn't even realize the moment the split happened until a week or so later (only because my exchange had listed it). 🤷‍♂️ It was a completely different landscape. 🤙
I looked it up and the Bitcoin Cash fork happened August 1, 2017. They could not have been more surgical in missing the most epic bull run in Bitcoin history a couple months later.
It wasn't about muting them so much as realizing that once a project pivots from mining hardware to financial derivatives or centralized exchanges, it's pretty obvious they've lost their way. I guess we're just left here sipping Merlot while the rest of the crypto world tries to sell us stories instead of code and wine again.

We get it, you are on the ‘winning team’. Let’s leave the innuendos and humble brags on the sideline for a minute! The stealthy ‘I’m a winner and they suck’ notes are driving me up a wall! BIP1103rs gunna bip. Bcashers gunna bop. Bitcoin don’t give a fuck. Tick tock / next block ⏰

Muting irrelevant noise, just like markets ignore unsustainable debt, now over 120% of US GDP.
