Serious question. I see a lot of talk about zapping but looking at zaplife I see very little action compared to even month ago. Is it that zaplife hides the zaps, or people exaggerate! Correct answer only! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿซก

Definitely feels like less zapping action the past couple of weeks. I better check my wallet ๐Ÿ˜‚ probably low on sats and don't even know it ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
Damus probably has quite a bit of the โ€œkind 1โ€ market and appleโ€™s decision is a set back. Workarounds like zapplepay are clever and I use it but it also creates friction that some users probably wonโ€™t pursue. Just my made up speculation.
Also, after looking at the code of zapplepay, I would personally not trust it. The keys to your wallet (even if you set the budget) are stored in clear on a server. I donโ€™t know where that server is or show has access to it, or how well itโ€™s protected. The more users use it the larger and more profitable target it becomes. So there is that ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿซก
This. Biggest issue is Apple. They block note tipping and most people arenโ€™t going to go the extra step to tip in profile. Part of tipping is recognition, this disappears with no note tipping. Sad realityโ€ฆ for now.
His point is that itโ€™s already too much work for a normie. I tend to agree. But Iโ€™m sure it will become easier over time. Obviously wonโ€™t be possible without you
Hmm. Iโ€™m not sure if there is a good way to store this securely since it has to all be read by the server based on a trigger of a โ€œlikeโ€ and not some explicit action from the zapper (I.e. making an API call and decrypting the encrypted string to make the payment). Only solution I can think of is running a โ€œpersonalโ€ zap agent on your computer for yourself that performs the same function. Youโ€™d still need to protect your nwc info but at least youโ€™d be responsible for yourself.
I agree. Was thinking โ€œout loudโ€ in my note more than anything. I agree if this is going to be a long term or serious workaround. I appreciate you looking at the source code and doing due diligence on that. โ€œNot your zaps not your satsโ€

I see a lot of this is people saying apple crippling damus is the issue. Would this work? Subscribe to a specific relay and send it any amount of sats, then it follows your likes and sends zaps to them automatically? If damus has customizable emojis like amethyst does, you could even have certain emojis correspond to amounts to send. Then you could withdraw by liking your own post. Sort of like lntipbot on reddit, but less of an eye strain.
I don't think zaplife hides the zaps, from my personal experience I noticed people zap less since the trouble with apple. #fuckApple
I've also seen a drastic decline of zaps in my timeline on notes and replies. I assume it's caused by the increased friction to zap in Damus, not sure though.
Agreed still think sending a decent starter budget hooks better for new plebs, but the Damus drop feels noticeable โšก๏ธ
