Or how about when the lightning network fails all the time my local meetup is already saying ECash is a better solution….

you can trade worthless tokens offline, go for it. It’s not real until it’s in a utxo you control.
I can meet you offline and share ecash tokens worth 21 million bitcoin. Unfortunately you won't be able to redeem them for bitcoin once you are online.
