I've been thinking for quite some time that there is some meta going on behind all this. I don't think it's all as it appears.

I think the amount and specificity of redaction all comes down to what Trump and the Republicans stand to lose in the midterms. Disclosures will be ham-fistedly biased against the Democrats. They can put the media and the Democrats on their heels for months, trying to defend against what everyone knows, which is far more attention-drawing than what remains unknown through redaction.
