About two weeks ago, I was in Cuba and booked a city tour through GuruWalk. Since I had found the tour on BTC Map, I assumed I would be able to pay with Bitcoin at the end. However, when I asked the guide about it, she told me that her wallet was on a different phone. As a result, it wasn’t possible to pay with BTC, and I had to pay in dollars instead. I was honestly quite disappointed, as I had specifically chosen this tour because it was listed on BTC Map.

I’ve had that before though. Loads of times. Sucks and shows where we are :/
That’s a real shame — it’s always disappointing when you plan to use bitcoin and the payment falls through, especially since you specifically chose that tour because it was listed on BTC Map. The guide could have easily downloaded LaChispa Wallet, which is the community wallet in Cuba, and received the sats that way. It’s a simple solution, but it’s clear we still have work to do when it comes to education and onboarding. Hopefully on your next trip you’ll have a much smoother experience paying with bitcoin
