If someone has a ledger but only uses it for Bitcoin, are they going to get rugged at some point?

technically yes. but it depends on which ledger. the one without the bluetooth are generally safe.
why?
because ledger sends out your mnemonic. that is a single point of failure
The Ledger Nano S needs to be physically secured as its not tamper evident and subject to evil maid attacks
Itβs always possible, if thereβs a security flaw either in a future firmware upgrade, with the client software, or simply with the userβs own opsec.

I highly doubt you can get rugged.
They HAVE been sending other data off to a third party though.
Best to stop using it. Even if you're using it with electrum or sparrow
