These stats are not accurate...

can you point me at a better source? i get that its a distributed system but still taking the top 5-10 relays should be 90% accurate. (unless there is a massive isolated community or iot project)

You dont need a massive community or isolated project people are just more spread out into their own things. Like the Japanese communities are on their own relays and clients

In the fiat world, maybe, nostr doesnt need engagenent metrics to sell to advertisers. We can all go for a month long vacation and come back and it would still be the same.

and investors. But the nostr system relies on the generosity of relay operators who continue to fund the infra (or entities who give grants). We can hope that their generosity continues because when <0.1% are retained, then usually only 1-10% convert to paid, which means that charity will be needed. Sustainable monetization for relays is needed before the music stops.
