Very interesting; I presume that doesn't include the Bitfinex hack ( was it 120K? I somehow forget), which is legally and morally correct), but they presumably still control it .
-Wait, you only have 29K Bitcoins? We thought it was 200K, where's the other 85%? -We lost it in a boating accident off the coast of Eipste... Virgin, Virgin Islands.

The U.S. government holds just 28,988 BTC worth $3.44B, per a FOIA response obtained by @L0laL33tz. That's only 15% of the 200,000 BTC it was once believed to control. image Shared via

This is just the Marshall Service. The DOJ’s Asset Forfeiture Program includes the Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section (MLARS) which would lokely hold some. Also the DEA, ATF and FBI could have some too. Also the IRS via tax seizures. View quoted note →
