You know what would be fun
If a bitcoin documentary person went into the Amish community and showed them how to use Bitcoin
I have a feeling theyβre gonna love it

@Derek Ross link up with @Max DeMarco isnβt there a lot of Amish in PA?
Too much technology though, no?
Would love to see it either way ππ€£
I'm in the heart of Amish country myself. Would make buying local on a btc standard a lot easier π€£
Man for surr! Ive been saying this one a long time! The Amish would love bitcoin... and more specifically, cashu.
Put bitcoin on a feature phone like they do in Africa. Many Amish use basic/restricted cell phones.
If they have mobile phones it could be easy, I know itβs not all of them but I wonder if talking to those that do could be a way forward
Yeah and some of the younger Amish are even on social media
They too busy showing Africa. Hahahaha
@Derek Ross can run a LN node for them itβs all good
Yes
No need. Offline lightning coming soon to a purpose built mesh device near you
Yes. Weβre hoping to get a demo of that with the Qaul Network (mesh core, I believe) this week - hopefully video soon

Iβll help fund it lol
shii we all can we have zaps on our side
We say this, but they wouldn't understand it. I could be wrong, but I just don't see it.
Yes, they literally live 15 minutes from me in a large community and come into my town for farmer's markets.
Thatβs fire but wouldnβt it be couple months to years off from being viable solution thatβs established and battle tested ?
if itβs too hard to do like to talk to them then yeah donβt even try it
Hi sorry to bother you guys!! We just needed a little boost for our Geyser. itβs for my son ππ» thanks so much!!

Oh shit so theyβre like approachable
Yes, then a sequel where the amish only accept bitcoin at their roadside stand and they have to teach normies how to use it.
This is money that is free from government control. Its digital but does not expose your community to any more sin than dollars do. In fact, less because bitcoin embodies certain virtues like trust (transparency) and proof of work (put in work to reap rewards).
You would be aligning your community with English that hold many very similar virtues. Most Btcoiners believe being self-relient, having traditional families, and empowering those who wish to live a simple traditional family life.
With cashu, this becomes money that your elders control. Your community mints its own money that you can trade amongst yourselves without any banking fees. And it remains usable outside of the community as well.
Of course its a long uphill battle but just some talking points off top of head
Yes. But low time preference fren.
Nothing important was ever achieved by avoiding the hard thing.
-someone probably
They can only use technology for business.
Is that the case across the board for most amish? Either waynid counter that the use of money is always some form of business no?
This would be incredible
I'd say yes but I only have experience talking to local Amish and Amish from Lancaster. They're pretty strict on it.
I imagine so. Iβve only spoken with a handful of Amish folks - from the Lancaster area as well - and they have a βif it ainβt broke donβt fix itβ way of thinking, far as I can tell.
