If you're using an advanced client such as Amethyst that allows you to configure a multitude of relay options, please check out @Vitor Pamplona's recent article on advanced relay configuration. If you still have questions, drop them below and myself or others will try to answer them for you. https://highlighter.com/a/naddr1qvzqqqr4gupzq3svyhng9ld8sv44950j957j9vchdktj7cxumsep9mvvjthc2pjuqy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hj7qqtwfjkccte94ek2ar4wqys6pzp If this is too a bit too technical for you, don't worry, you don't have to use Amethyst. For now, you can use Primal, Wherostr, or Voyage on Android.

I haven't read this yet but here's a question, how do I turn off the reply guy fun? One can only take souch hilarity
in amethyst you can block the URL of their profile picture from your security filters settings or you can reconfigure your relays to use relays that aren't allowing them to post - this includes paid relays and WoT relays.
The blocking of image URL works for me, (apart from when there is a slight lag on loading the profile pic). I would love for there to be a simple 'pick optimal relay configuration' button lol. That takes into account what you have paid for eg if you have wine. Or what you have previously used. Or something . I don't know. I really haven't configured my set up at all. In fact I've failed miserably lol
i don't see them at all and i have their profile pictures block and i have my relays configured to use paid relays, WoT relays, or relays that mitigate spam better than others. the other option is to use a client that handles all of this quite well for you. have you tried Primal?
A little magic wand for people who don't want to / can't do it properly (me). With a little warning that manual would be a better choice but it'll do it's best. I would click that, cos I really can't figure it out:)

I did but much preferred Amethyst. As much as I adore the ethos of nostr based applications, it is worrisome that you have to be of dev quality to overcome spam
I'm using an "advanced client" guys 😏 (I don't know what any of these words mean)

Hi @Derek Ross, It looks like your post got hit hard by spammers. I'll still move my questions here just in case: 1. DM Relays: * Could someone explain the concept of public but hidden DM relays for people who want notifications in Amethyst? * Can you give an example of a public but hidden relay? * What am I giving up in terms of privacy when using a public DM relay? 2. General Relays: I would appreciate more details regarding the role of General relays. They seem to do more than just downloading content (e.g., Amethyst sends notes to General Relays unless you disable the ⬆️ option). It would be helpful to understand when and why it’s better to add a specific relay as Inbox or Outbox relay versus General relay.
