Roman history is amazing, we are basically reliving those times, the decline of the empire.
In read the Sovereign Individual on lockdown. Besides the Y2K jazz, the book was spot on. I suspect debasement breeds degeneracy. It makes degeneracy a requirement for survival, at least before humans could opt out in the digital age.
