So for me it’s kinda the same
I have a Nostr only podcast
But my fiat job is usually 7 days a week
And I make a lot of money there
If I make a Nostr episode I receive maybe 2 dollars worth of sats
So which one am I incentivized to do ???
The one that pays my bills ?
Also to add to your point if I was making decent money from my Nostr podcast, then I’d have time and make time to dedicate to making the show better

Right now I’m lucky if I can spend a couple hours a week on Nostr
I’d like to do it full time and the content would get wayyy better

People expect your memes, myself included. I've written plenty of garbage posts about whatever was running through my thick skull, and they've pulled anywhere from no zaps to decent zaps. I've talked plenty of sh*t and gotten plenty wrong, and people keep coming back. There's a lot of beauty in getting to choose who you enlighten and who you trigger. Both are benefits imo. Do you, bro.
Lack of incentives has nothing to do with it.
Nostr already has zaps.
We don't need ad revenue to reward creators for keeping our attention here, that's the only incentive other places have.
But I also like doing it for fun in my spare time - if I get any or when I get it -
I enjoy hosting the show and talking to nostriches even if the zaps are not huge …

Nicely said... I'm with ya on spouting about and so many times not thinking about what you're saying from time to time ( at least that's me!) . But it's all honest and up front.. Zaps? Yea, Nostr isn’t big enough to be a main source of income for anyone. I don’t think any content creator gets all their income from a single revenue stream anyway. Content is a business, and like any business you generate revenue from multiple sources and in various ways. It’s embarrassing how shitty the tips are on Nostr. People are cheap as fuck here. Good on you if you do it for the sheer love of it as a hobby. For those who approach content as more than just a hobby, Nostr isn’t worth the time right now.
I’ve tried other content. I’ve tried other accounts that didn’t have this account’s baggage/expectations. I’ve watched other people try and burnout. Low effort memes and off the cuff tweets about “whatever” are the only types of content worth the effort they take, and they don’t take much effort. 😂
Wen YT is paying thousands or even tens of thousands a month ….

Kind1 feeds are low signal. The rage algos are the only thing propping up other similar forms of social media. I think this form of internet banter is on its way out. People are seeking smaller groups and communities where they are actually recognized. The return of Dunbar perhaps.
Nostr has the whole “small community” thing down since there are only 11 of us here 😂
I don’t think nostr needs to compete in that way. Nostr has more potential for creators with small to medium reach than it does for those with huge established followings on other platforms. But it still depends on the people here actually giving support.
More will come just figure ways to get things out without selling out
Begging for money, a.k.a. fundraising, seems to be the only feasible strategy for v2v content creators. It can be observed in podcasting 2.0. Not the best content is the most rewarded. The good enough content with a great fundraising strategy is the most rewarded. Shamelessly asking for donations and nauseam is a core idea behind fundraising, because it just works. But it can't be visibly automated. In such case you get blocked instantly. Content creators have to adapt their message to the medium. Also, if you want people to voluntarily give you money, your message has to be positive. Complaining about not getting zapped or about the medium itself is a road to nowhere.
Agreed, begging is a huge turn off. Even asking for donations for a legitimate cause gets old when it’s overdone. Where my own messaging about V4V has come off as begging is something I continue to consider and try to adjust, because it’s not the message I intend and it’s not constructive in terms of addressing the larger issue of artists monetizing on Nostr. The issue is real, though, and it’s important to me, and I’d rather have some days where I make an ass of myself than just give up on the issue entirely. I’m not worried about whether anyone here likes me 😂

I consider content provided as v4v a legitimate cause for fundraising. I'm calling it begging jokingly, but what I really mean is just shameless asking. Fundraising is a craft that can be learned and perfected. It's very similar to sales and marketing.
